Current Classes/Training Opportunities

    • Media Relations & On-Camera Training – This two-day seminar will walk you through how to handle breaking news, especially when conducting live interviews. On-camera coaching will be done with simulated news events, and it will help you learn to stay on track, how to handle ambush questions and teach you how to become more proactive and less reactive.     • FEMA G290 – Basic Public Information Officer Training  This course will take place on Wed., Nov 1 and Thu., Nov 2, 2017 from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. It will be held at the St. Petersburg College EpiCenter, 13805 58th St N, Clearwater, FL 33760. There is no cost for this class. Electronic course materials will be provided in .PDF format, so you may wish to bring a computer to this class.     • FEMA G291 – Joint Information System/Joint Information Center Training – This course will take place on Fri., Nov 3, 2017 from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. It will be held at the St. Petersburg College EpiCenter, 13805 58th St N, Clearwater, FL 33760. There is no cost for this class.     • FEMA 700 Series Course and Exam – These documents were provided by FEMA for posting to this website for study purposes only. To take the exam and receive credit for the course, go to www.FEMA.gov. This course deals with the Joint Infomation Center Public Affairs Concept. Both documents are in PDF format: Course Study Materials; Course Final Exam.
    • Understanding & Planning for School Bomb Incidents – this is a free awareness level web-based training certified by the Department of Homeland Security. It’s a four hour online course and participants can start and stop at their leisure. Click here for more information.
