The FLEPIOA Distinguished Performance Awards are presented annually to those eligible members who have demonstrated exceptional work performance as a public information officer for a federal, state, county, or city law enforcement, fire rescue, emergency management or similar public safety agency. FLEPIOA is the oldest law enforcement media relations organization in the country.
The 2015 FLEPIOA Distinguished Performance Awards include:
The Florida Law Enforcement Public Information Officer of the Year Award was presented to Officer Dave Northway, Tallahassee Police Department, managing public and media relations during one of the country’s highest profile events – the Strozier Library Shooting at Florida State University.
The Jack Espinosa Award was presented to Judge Howard M. Maltz, Seventh Judicial Circuit, for his continuous support and commitment to provide up to date guidance on Florida Public Record Laws to all members of FLEPIOA. Judge Maltz has repeatedly set aside time to present at several conferences and makes himself available for individual questions throughout the year.
